A few weeks ago we announced that BBC America would be displaying Doctor Who fanart at the BBCA booth at San Diego Comic Con. We received an outstanding number of awesome submissions from Whovian artists and featured some on BBC America’s video cube! Which looked something like this:

(Actually it looked exactly like this)

Here’s a slideshow of all the Doctor Who fan art that was chosen to be featured. Unfortunately the music needed to be removed from the video, but maybe if we all sing doo-wee-ooo~ at the same time we’ll all be able to hear it!

A sculpture of mine, as seen at the San Diego Comic Con (get me)
(The one on the right. The one with my name)

Pleased as punch to reblog this, as I rarely reblog stuff.

I frankly never expected to see pictures of it being displayed.
Wonderful indeed and thanks for the opportunity.

Artwork created by our Doctor, James O’Neill was featured at comic con! How cool is that!?

More fun with my toned sketchbook! This time it’s of the Doctor and Daisy from the awesome fan comic Doctor Who Regenerated. I’m in the middle of working on a short in-between story for the comic and this was to help me get used to drawing the characters more.
Check out the time lapse video of this drawing here!

Brenda is our colourist and an amazing artist!
She’s doing a Bucket List mini-comic for us that the team is very excited for and you should be too!
Apologies for the hiatus, but we’ll keep you posted! High-res

Hey hey hey! Work has started on DWR once again, and to celebrate, a shiny art book that you can purchase and download here!

It has sketches from ‘The Fallen Angel’, early character art, and nice details of some of the backgrounds. Print it out yourself or just keep it on your computer, whatever you want to do with it, you’ll own a little piece of DWR!

All proceeds from the book will help fund my stay with Hamish in May. Every purchase keeps DWR alive and my trip a little less financially stressful. Thank you!

THE REASON FOR THE HIATUS

Yesterday Lydia and I had an 8 hour Skype conversation about DWR and what we’re going to do with the half finished story The Tomb of the Stone Clock which we left on a crazy weird cliffhanger.

The reason the second half has been delayed so much, put simply, is because we’re perfectionists.

We have a script for the second half and it’s FINE but it’s also filler. We don’t want to deliver something which is ok, we want it to be worth the time spent us drawing it and you reading it.

So we’ve done some major rewrites to the second half to make it a bit more interesting and we are working on getting the rest of the comic out asap.

Yesterday we realised how amazingly talented Doctor Who writers and all TV writers really are. I think we spend so much of our time complaining about choices Doctor Who writers have made that we forget that fundamentally… writing several, even semi coherent and interesting plots every year IS A TALENT and should be admired more often. I completely understand them not always getting it right, or accidentally falling back on predictable elements … because at a base level… just that pure ability to write on demand is very impressive.

We need to discipline ourselves more, set ourselves more TV-like deadlines. We are so excited to share the twists and turns in upcoming DWR issues that we need to just crack on with it.

Anyway, this whole post is just a big heartfelt apology. Our fanbase has been so supportive and positive and we really appreciate you all waiting patiently for the next adventure of The Doctor and Daisy.

I was commissioned by the wonderful and talented hamishmash to draw the two main characters of dwregenerated.
This is a tumblr comic project written by Hamish and illustrated by the also very talented and wonderful lydiabutz go check out their comic.

This is so cool! A really nice interpretation and you got their personalities spot on!
THINGS ARE HAPPENING. DWR IS COMING BACK. WE’RE SO SORRY. PROMISE US.

Is DWR set before or after the Time War? did Day of the Doctor effect your series?

You will discover in the series exactly when DWR takes place, so please be patient.

Did you know that when Series 1 of New Who was written, RTD and co never even discussed whether the Doctor was the 9th or not? It was something decided way later when newspapers asked (at the time Richard E Grant was the ‘current’ 9th Doctor).

HOWEVER, Day of the Doctor did make me and Lydia have to rethink some things… but that was more to do with similarities with something we’d written and being wowed by the stuff in that story and feeling we couldn’t top it, then having to change sometimes due to that episode changing the ‘whoniverse’ so to speak.

(We both really loved Day of the Doctor by the way!)
